Border Collie Puppies

Upon any visit to Canter Hill, your first greeting will likely come from our three Border Collies:  Zeus, Bella and Paxx.  Trained to herd and help us work the farm, they nevertheless prefer playing ball and happily greet all visitors in the hopes that they can convince them to kick their soccer ball a few times.

Bella and Paxx, our two sisters, are from Irish bloodlines and have agility champion lineage. They are small framed, weighing just 22 and 26 pounds each, and have medium length coats.  Paxx carries the red gene, producing Cinnamon colored border collies as well as the traditional black and white.  Our boy Zeus is from champion herding bloodlines and is medium framed at 35 pounds.  He shared the red gene, and Paxx and Zeus have produced some lovely brown borders. 

Current Litter:
Paxx delivered 3 healthy, black and white boys in September, that are heading to new homes.  We can never predict the next litter, but past experience tells us that it's usually about 9 months between litters, putting another litter at June of 2012.  

We raise the puppies in the house, holding them regularly and having them spend significant time with children, so they are absolutely perfect as a family pet.  We begin "housebreaking" at 6 weeks, but the lion's share of the training comes with their new owners.  Pups are introduced to the animals of the farm carefully - we want their first experiences to be positive.  We begin to take them with us to the chicken coops when they are 5 - 6 weeks old (depending on their curiosity level), getting them comfortable with other species.  We are expecting a litter during the last week in September, sired by Zeus and carefully mothered by Paxx.  Zeus and Paxx have traditionally produced litters of only two pups, so if you are interested, please alert us early.  Zeus and Paxx both carry the red gene, resulting in cinnamon-colored puppies, in addition to black and white pups.  These brown and white pups are in high demand, so again, please put your name on the alert list if you are interested.  Puppy prices depend on color and markings, and range from $550 to $800.  Our litters are AKC registered and given their first round of immunizations and full vet examination and certification.  Puppies are typically ready to join their new homes between 8 and 9 weeks of age.  Please contact us for additional information if you are interested.

Chicks and Chickens:

We anticipate hatching chicks and chickens in 2012, and would begin having them for sale in April / May of 2012.  We currently have older (2 year old) hens available that have completed their molt and are currently laying, although at a reduced rate than in their "early days".    These "senior ladies" are available for $12 each and can be picked up at the farm.  Please contact us if you are interested.
